Our aim is to provide customers with a first class service.  We carefully select our books for condition and interest.

About us

Hawkridge Books is owned and run by Irene and Joe Tierney; customers are provided with a personal service and given individual attention.

We have been in the book business for over 30 years and ran a bookshop in the Peak District village of Castleton for 15 years.

That shop closed and in 2019 we moved our best stock to our new shop in Bakewell.

Our range

Although we specialise in ornithology, where we have 1100 volumes, and natural history (700 volumes), we have books in all subjects.

For example, we have 700 books published by the Folio Society, 400 history books, and a similar number on topography, including 200 books on Derbyshire.

All our books are selected to ensure that they are in the best condition and any faults are mentioned.

Our collection

We have over 10,000 books on two spaciously laid-out floors of shelving.

The books are well organised into categories for you to browse and help is always on hand if you are looking for a specific book or subject.

We pride ourselves on offering a personal service. We are a team of two. This means that, unlike big businesses, you can contact us by email or telephone and your questions will be answered quickly and to your satisfaction
